Aikkanamadathil Family

The present Aikkanamadathil branch of Mutholath family is the descendents of Kurian, the elder son of Kuriakko Mutholath. Their original family name was Kulappurath because Mr. Kurian first settled in Kulappurath property.

Kurian was born as the elder son of Kuriakko Mutholath. He was healthy and efficient. He had two sons and four daughters. His eldest daughter was married in Neerikkad, The second daughter was married in Pazhayampallil family in Padinjattinkara. The third daughter was married in Ettumanoor. The fourth daughter was married in Chelamalayil family at Kidangoor.

After the wedding of his daughters, Kurian became economically weak. He died before becoming too old. His wife died later.

Kurian's sons were known as Kuriakko and Ummachan. Kuriakko, the elder son was more prominant. Kuriakko and Ummachan lived in two houses built in the northern and southern part of Kulappurath property that their father had inherited. So their family name was Kulappurath.

Later both of them sold their house and land and purchased Aikkanamadathil property that is north of Kulappurath property. They lived in separate houses there. When they sold the Kulappurath property, Mutholath Kuriakko bought the southern part of Kulappurath property and Madathil Thommy bought the northern part.

He cleared his debts and with the rest of his money he lived with his daughter in Paingalam. When that family moved to Malabar, he moved there along with them and died in Malabar.
