MUTHOLATH BRANCHES OF CHENTHOTTAM FAMILY
MUTHOLATH KURIAKKO KURIAN
Kuriakko, the eldest son of Kurian Padinjare-varikattu (second son of
Thomman Chenthottam) settled in a house constructed in a property close to varikattu property called Mutholath. Thus he and his descendants are known as members of Mutholath family.
Mutholath Kuriakko Kurian was born around 1818. He had four daughters and two sons named Kurian and Chacko. The sons were born after the four daughters.
The eldest daughter was married in Chunkom. The second daughter was married at Edattu family in Paingalam. The third daughter was married at Palacheril family in Koodalloor. The fourth daughter was married in Chittalakkattu family in Maridom.
The eldest son Kurian was healthy and became prominent. He married from Vattapparabel family in Paingalam. He settled in Kulappurath property. Later his family moved to Aikanamadathil property and thus came to be known as Aikanamadathil family.
Chacko was the youngest child of Mutholath Kuriakko Chacko. He married Anna from Padickamalil family in Maridom and lived with his father in the Mutholath property. So he maintained Mutholath as his family name. Chacko's father died when Chacko was 22 years of age. At that time Chacko had two sons Kuriakko and Uppai. Mother also died soon.
CHACKO AND ANNA MUTHOLATH
When Mr. Kuriakko died he had a debt of Rs. 40 which was a great amount at that time. When Kuriakko realized that he was nearing death, he requested his both sons to take up the responsibility of paying the debts. Though Chacko was young and economically weak, he readily agreed to take up that responsibility. That year Chacko got an unexpected yield of coconuts from his properties in Mutholath and Maliekal. Thus he could
pay the debts in the same year. Chacko believed that God had given him good yield for obliging his father's moral wishes. Later also God blessed Chacko and his sons with economic prosperity.
This family tree is based on Chacko son of Kuriako Mutholath and his
wife Anna from Padikkamalil family.
