Thommi Kulappurath was born in Mutholath family as the third child and second son of Uppai Mutholath, Cherpunkal and Aley Nalliveettil, Punnathura.
He married Annamma, daughter of Mani Poozhikkunnel in 1939. Annamma was born at Samcrancthy in Poozhikkunnel Family.
Thommi was a businessman and later became a full time farmer. He lived in Kulappurath property where his parents were living. He took care of his parents. He moved to Malabar to acquire more land for his sons.
